Model profile: Karlie Kloss

Never heard of America's Supermodel sweetheart Karlie Kloss? Where have you been!? Anyway, let me introduce you to her...

Karlie has been in the fashion industry after been discovered in St Louis at the age of 13. Four years later, she landed herself with a contract at one of the major model agencies in the industry - Elite Model Management. A year later (2008) she left Elite to sign with Next Models (present agency).

During Fall 2008 Fashion Week, she walked in a colossal total of 64 shows, with 31 shows in New York Fashion Week where she closed for Marc Jacobs, opened Caroline Herrera, and both opened and closed Doo.Ri. She then went on to walk 20 shows in Milan Fashion Week and 13 shows in Paris Fashion Week. After an immense season, the fashion world started to take notice.

She hasn't done bad as far as campaigns are concerned either (and when i say bad, i meaning amazing!). With Dolce and Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci, Chloe, Dior, Oscar de la Renta all in her
books, to name a few, its fair to say, i think the fashion world has a new girl crush.

WARNING: For this next load of information I'm going to throw at you, you may want to take a deep, looooong breath first...Kloss has appeared in editorials for...American and Korean W, American Elle, Allure, I.D, French and Japanese Numero, Vanity Fair, Dazed and Confused, and American, Australian, Italian, French, British, Korean, German, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Portuguese, Teen, and Latin American Vogue - (and breath). But that's not all of it...she has also graced the covers of numerous amounts of some of the best fashion magazines in the world: Italian Vogue in October 2009, January 2010, and December 2011, Vogue Turkey, Vogue Portugal, Vogue China in February, August, and November in 2010, British Vogue in September 2012, Vogue Korea and American Teen Vogue, alongside fellow friends and Supermodels, Chanel Iman and Ali Michael in February 2008 and by herself in May 2010 - (and gasp for breath once again). Possibly the longest list ever right!?

Another special year for the Supermodel was 2011 as she joined the likes of Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Douzten Kroes, Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel to name a few, to walk in the most glamorous event of the year, the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. But she didn't look like the new kid in school, she appeared as if she had being walking as an 'Angel' in this extraordinary event for years! Just like a true professional! I especially loved her when she wore the fabulous pink wings (left) as she really gave the audience a glimmer of her bubbly personality. I would be shocked if she wasn't walking in the glistening event this year too!

2012 has also been a very successful year so far as she has featured on the covers of British Vogue, Japanese Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar Russia, and Numero as well as appearing on the campaigns of Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, Juicy Couture and Stefanel. If all of this wasn't enough, she has also landed the part alongside Supermodel Joan Smalls as the hosts of MTV's House of Style. Click here to watch the first episode

Moving away from Fashion, she has recently started her own cookie line: Karlie's Kookie's! Made especially for vegans, they are also gluten free and all proceeds made go to the charity FEED. For each cookie sold, a total of ten school lunches will be provided to children in poverty around the world. She told British Vogue: "I am really into health and nutrition and baking has always been a passion. I take these cookies on shoots, to fashion weeks, to my friends' houses - everywhere. They make you feel good and you are doing good." How she found the time to create this tremendous line of delicious healthy treats I'll never know, but she is such an inspiration for doing so!

So there you have it...you pretty much know every detail into Karlie Kloss' Supermodel life; she's the nicest girl in fashion, super successful, has her own batch of kookies and still manages to have a huge smile on her face. Is there anything this girl can't do?

Celebrity Spotting: the ponytail

The ponytail is the renown hairstyle to 'shove' your hair up and get it out of your face after a long day at work look. But it seems to be continuously popping up on the star's head's! Maybe the pony just got fashionable...

The elegant pony:

Whether you style it sleek and shiny like Rosie's above, or high and tight like Gwyneth's, your hair will ooze elegance. The two above, however are very different. Rosie's comes in to be more focused on the glossy locks, and securing the pony by wrapping a piece of hair around the bobble to give it the extra edge. Where as Paltrow opted for the 'less is more look' as she swept her beautiful blonde hair back neat and tight at the crown, to be finished of with a neat black hairband to secure it in place.

Loose and wavy:

To give your hair the ultimate chic look, why not try a low, gentle waved pony? With it's effortless feel but super sophisticated looks, it's the perfect style for day or night. Seen on Kate Hudson (left) and Reese Witherspoon (right), both again put their own unique twist to it as Kate enhanced her soft waves by making them visual going into the bobble, whilst Reese went for the gentle wispy bits of hair hanging down the sides of her cheeks to frame her face, along with a slightly neater approach leading into the bobble. Both are exquisite as far as the red carpet is concerned!

So... you've seen how a bunch of A listers wear their ponies, the only thing now is...what style will you opt for with yours?

Oh and one more thing! I don't know about you, but as i was writing this post, i noticed that both Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon were wearing black, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kake Hudson wore red...maybe black and red are becoming the colours of Hollywood's wardrobes? I'll keep an eye out for you!

Watch this face

So this fall's fashion week saw many new and talented individuals who have been splashed into the fashion lime light. These model's are making a huge impact on the runway, so let's meet them...

Nastya Kusakina

There's a new Russian in town, and from this beautiful snap, its not hard to see why. She walked for the likes of Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen on her first runway season! It must be her blond hair and green eyes that got her opening the show for Jil Sanders.

Grace Mahary

From this photo, you would have never have guessed that she was a die hard basketball player! But yes, it happens! Her life has complete turned upside down (positively though!) as she is now gracing the international catwalks for the most praised designers of the world!

Tamara Weijenberg

Here's proof that the epic fashion reality show, Top Model really can change your life as the winner of Holland's Next Top Model is thrust before fashion's eyes! From police officer to editorials in Elle and posed for Acne and Alexander Wang, this beauty has got a up hill career ahead of her!

Rosie Tapner

One fact for you: she's 15. Yes, you heard me correctly. With a Balenciaga campaign already under her books, who knows where this young talent will go next. One things for sure, everyone in the Fashion world will be keeping track.

Florence Huntington-Whiteley

That's right...it looks like the model gene runs in the family as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's little sister Florence bursts into the world of Fashion. She may be studying at University but that hasn't stopped her from bagging a Jack Wills campaign.

Stef van der Laan

The Netherlands native made a pretty impressive debut at Givenchy AW12 show to then be taken under the wing by Chanel and Versace couture. There's no doubt this platinum blond haired beauty has one immense career ahead of her.

Take note of the Celeb's Halloween costumes!

Notepads at the ready...

If your leaving your Halloween costume to the very last minute, then your in luck because I've rounded up some of the best costume seen on the stars:

Heidi Klum

She's turning into the queen of the costume's as well as all her other business deals under her books, this time she went for a gold shimmering Cleopatra outfit. It may take a while to put together but the results will be epic!

Heidi Klum and Seal

Here she is again...expect looking, slightly, well, immensely different! If you've always wanted to know what the supermodel would look like back to ape form (evolution theory for you there), then there you have it! And what do you know...she still looks good! So if your feeling like taking a walk on the wild side then this ones a keeper for you!

Gwen Stefani

You shall go to the ball! A rather creepy and horror filled one, but its closer to Buckingham Palace! Gwen Stefani took inspiration from the elegant Disney Princess, Cinderella, and stole the show in Beverley Hills Wilshire Hotel. Hopefully no one stole her glass slipper...

Jada Pinkett Smith

Now's your time to channel your inner super hero...you may not have mission's to save the world but you'll have the task to make a strong super women look some what scary. Some fangs, red lips and nail claws should be a starting point, then it's up to you to put your own stamp on it.

Heidi Klum

I couldn't resist not putting this monster in the list, and once again, the evolving queen of costume: Heidi Klum. If Biology and studying the body is your thing, then you couldn't possible reveal any more of your personality than this outfit would!

Halloween ideas!

Still haven't got your Halloween costume, makeup and hair sorted? Well i may be able to help you get one step further by giving you some spooky makeup idea's, inspired by the Spring/Summer 2013 runway shows!

Why not try spooking up a cutesy character like the smurfs! The flash of blue wigs and a thin liner of blue and black on the upper eye lid was seen on the Anna Sui catwalk. You'll definitely stand out from the crowd, and it'll give you the opportunity to put your own stamp on it.

Feeling creative this Halloween? This is the one for you! Grab all the colours you possibly can to make a rainbow of skittles inspired look. This look was seen on Nicole Miller, and again is a blank canvas so it's up to you how to make it spooky!

I know some of you girls out there have been forever looking for an excuse to transform into an underwater beauty...well now's your chance! Splashed across Monique Lhuillier catwalk show, the models were seen to be presenting beautiful underwater blues, slick wet look hair flowing into all things natural.

Don't think that it is essential to have to follow the trends on a night like Halloween - its all about letting your hair down and expressing your inner creativity! Have a good one!

Food inspired by fashion!

Hey guys!

So today, me and my brother decided to venture of and make some maltesar cupcakes which i must say, for a nine year old to make, turned out quite well! (much better than expected anyway) I love baking but i am no MasterChef in the kitchen, and that's even harder to achieve when you have an impatient little boy constantly in your ear and peeking over your shoulder. Here's the end product:

They may not look amazing, but its what on the inside that counts right!? And i must say, they taste pretty impressive.

Anyway...i bet your thinking - 'this is a fashion blog...why is she on about cupcakes!?' If you happen to be thinking this thought, then to be honest, i don't blame you! But my answer to that is, some people take the inspiration from the catwalks to things other than their outfit or design, to their cupcakes! After putting into Google 'fashion inspired cupcakes', 28,900,000 results came up in a matter of 0.71 seconds. So it seems that I've been under estimating the power of the catwalk! I was so impressed by some of them, they look like they had been made for the queen or something. Take a look at some of the best i found:

Louis Vuitton inspired cake

This one is out of this world! And yes...it is all made out of cake!

New pair of stiletto's anyone?

I bet you weren't expecting them were you!? I'll be honest, i was surprised as well! My whole point of this post is that fashion can be so much more than what you wear, how you wear it, where you wear it , and if you follow the trends. It's an open road laid out for you to explore with endless possibilities, that's there for you to enjoy, be creative and show your personality. Don't be afraid to explore as many aspects of fashion as possible, you never know where the road will take you!

Have a good day or night depending where you are in the world,

love Jessica xx

A/W 2012 Trends

Having all the info of what to where, when to where it, and how to where it, is kinda overwhelming isn't it? I agree! That's why I've put together 'the do list' for the trends you've got to be rocking this autumn/winter:

1. Heritage

Put your lady head on, because out comes the tweeds, tartans and sheerlings. Whilst oozing a relaxed vibe, you'll definitely look the part wherever you happen to be heading. Think elbow patches, fair isle knits, tweed blazers, quilted jackets, and ankle boots, and your sorted!

2. Gothic

It's time to bring out your dark side! From head to toe leather, vicious studs, and a pallet full of black, black and last but not least...black. If your looking to put a girlie twist on this darkly trend then go for a beautiful lace pattern whether it be on a top or a skirt, you'll allow yourself to still express some of your girlie girlie side!

3. Military

That's it girls...there is officially no holding you back from stamping your feet when your having a tantrum moment because the military is here! Double breasted coats, black stomping boots, leather gloves, and a sternly clinched waist is what it's all about. I'd recommend Topshop Unique for this trend but shhhh...don't let the secret slip.

 4. Baroque

Remember that incredible Dolce and Gabbana AW12 catwalk? Yep, me too. This is your inspiration! For this trend more is more! Be sure to accessorise with big jewels with this one, a colour pallet of black and gold, and away you go!

5. Winter Florals

Brighten the mood with some bright, bold florals this cold autumn and winter season! But it's not the same in any way... the blossom's have found their dark side! With dark red and purple being the dominant colours, it looks like everyone is finding their dark side this season.
