London Fashion Week: Day 5

Day five was another big day full of massive creative talent! If only i was old enough to one get to London, two get F-Row tickets and three see it all erupt for myself! One day that will happen! Here is my favourite three from the busy day:

3. Anya Hindmarch

Embracing a new and experimentative way to show her delightful selection of handbags, the designer broke out of her routine of putting on small but fun presentations into a 'Pomp and Pleasure' show. With excitement building up for weeks on end, everyday that passed added more pressure for the Spring/Summer 2013 collection to be out of this world, and i am happy to say, she didn't disappoint! With a majestic grandfather clock counting down the seconds until show time, no one was sure what to expect...would there be model's or not? No! In their place were impressive two story illustrated card board carousels, that were moving and rotating to mimic a fairground. The designer said: ""I wanted to do something with anamatronics and not models. It feels more playful. And this was all about a sense of fun.I think it's important to have humour as a designer and accessories really allow for that. Besides, poking fun is a really British sentiment." She definitely has a whole lot of creativity in her brain!

2. Simone Rocha

The designer opened with a white oval flower shaped cut out ankle grazing length dress that was accessorised with white brogues. Following this was white suits, shirts and skirts, beige knit dresses, jumpers and skirts, mustard coloured leather collared tops, and skirts. Then, out came the black! In all textures, shapes and sizes. The strong colour was seen on jackets, skirts, tops, shoes, hair accessorises trousers and dresses.

1. Mulberry

An English Country rose garden was literally portrayed in this years Spring/Summer 2013 collection, with tumbled roses at the opening where the models appeared, this was definitely achieved! The show opened with a a brown leather flower buttoned swing coat with a mustard leather pencil skirt. This outfit was then accessorised with brown leather gold flower buttoned heeled boots, and a spectacular brown leather handbag. This was then followed by metallic brown flowered printed jackets placed over a variety of brown or mustard coloured variety of clothing. Later into the show, the colours white, orange, green, black and dark blue all made an appearance in some pattern or in pure colour block. My favourite part had to be when a model strutted her stuff accompanied by a beautifully fluffy black poodle dressed in a blue and silver flower print waist coat! Classic!

London Fashion Week: Day 4

More than half way through the most stylish week of the year in London, fashion week was in full swing, and it can only get better! Monday the 17th of September saw designers in the likes of Burberry, JW Anderson, Erdem, Christopher Kane, and Louise Gray to name a small hand full. These were my favourite three:

3. Louise Gray

As were expected, models were dressed in wacky makeup and hair accessorises! When the opening model appeared, they had a silver block headpiece that had cut outs in the shape of a curved top hat, triangle and oval earrings, crown shaped eyebrows, a blue detailed eye line going across the centre of the eyelid, bright bold orange lips, and a drawn on dark blue beauty mole. She wore a silver 'paper print' bralet over a yellow and pale green printed elbow length top with blue and turquoise twirl details and a triangle and paper print detailed pencil skirt. This outfit was then accessorised with blue and red colour block brogues, black and white printed socks that were rolled down, and an oversized cubed ring with printed writing on both hands.

2. Christopher Kane

This Spring/Summer 2013 collection by Christopher Kane was full of white, pink, yellow, grey, sheer ribbon print, and extravagant exquisite detail. The opening model wore a white rose engraved full sleeve and knee length coat with a belting clinching it in at the waist to give the beautiful item a feminine shape, and to mimic curves. This was then accessorised with white strappy heels, with black and white swirls delicately placed around the ankle and across the foot. The incredible show was closed with a pink sheer knee length dress that was detailed with jewelled embellishment in purple, red and pink, along with a white lace and strips of black material.

1. Burberry Prorsum

The crowd was clued to the runway the minute the first model appeared to the minutes the lights went down. To set the bar of the show, the talented designers opened with a metallic pink bodice leotard, with a swing white knee length coat, with two black clips at the top to make a lovely triangle shape. This was accessorised with white sunglasses, and silver metallic open toed heels. As the show went on, more metallics were seen in a wide range of colours, along with long knee length white coats. This then went onto beautiful nude and pink dress and bomber jackets. All i have to say is, they definitely know how to repeatedly put on one awesome show one after the other!

London Fashion Week: Day 3

Day three saw the likes of Johnathon Saunders, Acne, Topshop Unique, Mary Katrantzou, Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood Red Label, Tom Ford and so many more! With so many amazing designers, all of them needed to make sure they commanded the stage and the crowds attention by ensuring that all of their collection's for Spring/Summer 2013 did just that! Here were my three favourite:

3. Mary Katrantzou

One word: print! And lots and lots of it! As the opening model came before the eager crowds eyes, they were greeted with a shin length dress detailed with pictures of cute little boats, and nature itself. This was created using the colours of different shades of blue, green, white, black, and a hint of brown to represent a hillside. This was then followed by printed suits, trousers, shirts, blazers, dresses, and skirts. Some metallic's also made an appearance further on into the show.

2. Acne

Opening with a vest presenting the word 'music' in big bold black writing, paired with a lilac maxi skirt really gave the audience a first feel for the show. It then went onto tailored suits in the colours of baby pink, grey, and lilac. Shortly added by long, floating and free maxi dresses and skirts, in green, white and cream. Stripes and colour blocks were then introduced and the fabulous show came to a close.

1. Topshop Unique

With Jourdan Dunn opening the show, we all knew it was gonna be brilliant! And they didn't disappoint! With the clothing mainly based on sheer cut out designs, they opened with a white full sleeve, knee length sheer dress with cut outs. Next came white knee length blazers, leather pencil skirts, and black crop tops. Then came white suits, dresses accessorised with blazers and strappy heels. Next appeared black and white floral patterns, stripes and crosses. Watch the full catwalk video below:

London Fashion Week: Day 2

Day 2 saw newcomers and established designers take to the stage. However, one thing what was the same, was how impressive the Spring/Summer 2013 collection's were! The fashion crowds eyes were hungry, and ready to be fed by a feast of beautiful clothes, and below were my three favourite for the day:

3. Huishan Zhang

With only two years experience under his belt since he graduated from Central Saint Martins, the Chinese craft man surely did himself proud! To set the bar for the rest of his show, he opened with an exquisite jewelled embellished black dress, with impeccable detail across the body. Then came a collection of sequin filled hems and collars on either silver or blue print lace dresses. He said: "We're progressing each season, learning each time. This is the first time I did print. I think the whole collection turned out very nicely."

2. Rag and Bone

This ready-to-wear collection saw a whole lot of denim! Denim shorts, denim shirts, denim jackets, denim skirts. First appearing was model Cara Delevingne in a knee length denim jacket with full sleeves, gently placed over a just above the knee length black shirt. On the bottom half, saw a black leather knee length pencil skirt, accessorised with black peeped toe tie up heeled boots. After all the incredible denim was displayed, out came a collection of sheer white clothing placed head to toe on the designers models. Next to make an appearance were the colours turquoise blue, lime green, coral and checks.

1. Moschino Cheap & Chic

As the super fashionable crowd patiently waited for the first model to appear, they weren't left disappointed when an array of bright colour block clothes was placed before their eyes. Opening with a lime green, purple, pink and orange jacket with a variety of light and dark purple patterned trousers, and accessorised with oversized sunglasses, black stilettos and an orange and brown checkered bag. This was short followed by strong colour block dresses, all with the main colours being purple, orange and pink. The audience was then introduced to a collection of every item of clothing (even earrings!) featuring a pineapple! The exotic fruit has been given the spotlight in this fabulous Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

London Fashion week: Day 1

So Friday the 14th of September kicked off London Fashion week, and as normal, the streets were filled with stylish people from bloggers, photographers, designers, make-up artists, models, agents, hair stylists and everything in between! Day 1 brought a lot of very well known designers and of course: beautiful clothes! Here were my favourite 3:

1. Julien Macdonald

Flowing, shimmering and body hugging dresses were on the cards for the designers Spring/Summer 2013 collection. He said: “I always start with asking myself ‘who is the woman?’ In my mind this time she was Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct – a strong woman who lives in a Hollywood mansion." The enthusiastic character then added: "Everything is made by hand, here in this building. It’s great because it’s Savile Row which is traditionally associated with menswear but I’m bringing some glamour to it,”If you've got a body to pull of these exquisite dress, then go ahead and show it off!

2. Zoe Jordan

This amazingly talented woman brought bohemian chic to the runway this ready-to-wear season. Being an exotic traveller herself and having a widen understand of geographical knowledge, she made sure that all of her experience inspired her impeccably well put together collection. By putting a polished look to the bohemian twist, the designer created some amazing outfits that stood a mile off the catwalk. She added: "I had been travelling to Africa and that's how it started. It was an eclectic mix, starting with fabric and print combinations." Her models were styled to look chilled, cool and relaxed as they appeared with wet tousled hair and black caps.

3. Caroline Charles

Another show that caught my eye was Caronline Charles' collection and you would probably know why if you are a regular reader to my blog, I LOVE FLORAL! It was seen everywhere on the runway during her Spring/Summer 2013 line up, on clothing items from shorts, to tie tops, from bags, to playsuits and trousers to dresses. It then went on the stripes and big bold coloured clothes, which my heart still continued to love! Models were accessorised with a black hat, a variety of coloured sunglasses, along with a collection of shoes with a very wide palette of rainbow colours and a bag. Its fair to say, she really did grab my attention on this one!

Best bits of New York Fashion week!

So we all know that the Big Apple can put on a show right? But what no one knew, was just how big Spring/Summer 2013 shows were gonna be! The hard work was written all over the fresh designers clothes that walked gracefully down the runway on beautiful models. And everyone has their own opinion of who's designers collection they like the best, because everyone has their own personal style! So I'm gonna round up my top five favourite shows of New York Fashion week!

5. Victoria Beckham

I loved Spice' collection. With hubby David Beckham in attendance, full support was surrounding her to pull off an amazing show, and she did! Beckham said that she wanted to explore "the notion of how a woman can emotionally connect with her clothes and how they make her feel”, and therefore that's what her collection presented!

4. Zac Posen

The showman pulled out all the stops to get a spectacular line up of clothes out on the runway this Spring/Summer, and with Naomi Campbell opening the show wearing a red floral cocktail dress, he set the bar high, but he was able to keep it at the same level for the rest of his show! Other famous model faces to appear were Lindsay Wixson, Coco Rocha, Crystal Renn, and Isabeli Fontana. His collection went from day dresses to a strapless teal mermaid cut gown and pretty much everything in between! Whilst at the same time, he managed to clue his audience's eyes on the runway. Good job Zac!

3. Oscar De La Renta

With a whopping 60 looks appearing on the runway, Oscar De La Renta must of had his work cut out! His refined sophisticated collection had exquisite detail and the quality was definitely seen! One of my favourite highlights was seen on Supermodel Karlie Kloss who was presenting a cream slit knee length pencil skirt that was clinched in at the waist with a wide heavy buckle red belt, topped with a red leather top and a black blazer. He accessorised this look with a navy snake skin clutch bag, a large cream flower necklace and black stiletto's.

2. Anna Sui

The rock and roll evening corrupted as soon as the Anna Sui fashion show kicked off! This season saw a collection of eccentric prints including a linen jumpsuit printed with forest leaves, berries and exposed zippers, with a leopard print bikini top peeking through. Additionally, floral, rosebuds, palm leaves, poppy peonies, leopard and cornflower also made a dazzling appearance. Also catching my eye, was the mixture of bright blue and pink bob length wigs that were gently placed on the hair of the models!

1. Calvin Klein

Being informed that your collection is going to be closing the entire New York Fashion week must be a daunting task and put some heavy weight on any designers shoulders, consequently, as it came to minutes before showtime, the crowd eagerly waited to see if Mr Klein was going to live up to the high expected standards, and he did! Mostly seen were dresses heading closely to the skin but not crossing the line of 'skin tight' in black, that were nipped slightly high in the waist. Leading on to fluid and free ivory dresses that were boarded with black, and was seen to move effortlessly as the models graced down the runway towards the hound of photographers. That's just naming a few, so I'm sure your becoming acknowledged with just how impressive his collection this Spring/Summer was!

That's just five of one hundred and fifty shows. So I'm sure you can imagine just how special and epic this years Spring/Summer collections seen at the legendary New York Fashion Week were.
